Associate of Science-Behavioral Science
Associate of ScienceRichard Bland College
The Associate of Science – Behavioral Science Degree is designed primarily for those students who plan to complete their baccalaureate degrees in areas of sociology, psychology, social services, and counseling. Depending upon the institution to which a student may transfer and the prospective major, the Associate of Science Degree may be more appropriate. Students are urged to consult an academic advisor on this matter. There is no foreign language requirement to earn this degree.
Outcomes
1 Draw conclusions from quantitative information using the appropriate mathematical tools and skills – such as algebra, calculus, statistics, etc. 2 Identify and describe the concepts and theories of the social and behavioral sciences. 3 Apply the methodologies of the social and behavioral sciences to human dynamics. 4 Clearly formulate questions, critically evaluate sources, and critique the soundness of logical arguments. 5 Communicate effectively orally and in writing using the structures and stylistic conventions specific to their chosen discipline. 6 Describe how major social and historical forces have shaped and continue to shape society. 7 Evaluate how the human experience is revealed through creative expressions from the humanities. 8 Identify and explain the major natural laws and theories that govern our universe and use scientific methodologies to acquire knowledge and solve problems.
