Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses | This curriculum is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution and complete a baccalaureate degree in fields such as anthropology, economics, history, pre-law, political science, psychology, social sciences or sociology. This program can be completed online. Students who intend to transfer should verify specific program requirements with their four-year institution. A Specialization in Education is also offered for students who want to prepare to teach at the elementary or secondary school level. |

Is This College Right For Me? | Virginia Western Community College's service region includes the cities of Roanoke and Salem, along with Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Virginia Western was the first college established in the Virginia Community College System, in 1966, and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of more than 8,500 students in credit courses and more than 1,200 enrollments in accelerated career training and continuing education courses. |
