The History major is designed to increase an understanding of the present and future by studying and interpreting the past. Required courses in the History major provide introductions to the primary historical traditions of world and U.S. history, political theory, methods of historical research and writing and other disciplines such as economics, literature and art, which bear on the historical process. Students are encouraged to develop depth in an area of emphasis such as American or European political and cultural histories or historic preservation, and may also prepare for the teaching profession at the elementary, middle and secondary levels.

Transfer Guidance Element What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion Completion of an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Science will guarantee completion of general education requirements.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School Completion of an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Science prior to high school graduation will guarantee completion of general education requirements with the exception that the First Year Seminar (3 credits) must be completed upon enrollment to SU.
