The activity of management is concerned with setting an organization’s strategic goals and formulating processes to achieve them. Managers carry out their administrative roles by handling such duties as preparing and administering budgets, planning and directing operations, and coordinating employees’ activities. The management/business administration concentration provides students with a broad-based study of management and other business disciplines. The course options in the curriculum give students flexibility in developing a program of study that can lead to a variety of entry-level positions in private and public organizations.

Considerations for Selecting Degree	The management/business administration concentration provides students with a broad-based study of management and other business disciplines. The course options in the curriculum give students flexibility in developing a program of study that can lead to a variety of entry-level positions in private and public organizations.
Considerations When Selecting Courses	Complete courses that are equivalent to VCU's lower-level business courses with grades of B or better. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to declare their business major. Missing lower-level courses must be taken before beginning the advanced business courses. Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year Connect with an advisor at your community college and Virginia Commonwealth University within your first year via College Connect
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses
Doing More With Your Degree	Because the business administration degree provides a broad business background, it’s important for students to pursue internship and externship experience to gain depth and specialization in their future fields of work. The Business Career Services Office assists students in securing these opportunities. Students may also choose to select a minor in a more specific discipline, such as sport and fitness management, HR, or real estate.

What If I Have An Associate Degree Or Credit For Prior Learning?

Associate Transfer Degree Completion	Students who earn an Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts & Sciences, Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Science, General Education Certificate, or Uniform Certificate of General Studies from the Virginia Community College System, Richard Bland College, or the College of Southern Maryland may be eligible to participate in the Guaranteed Admission Agreement. Students with one of these degrees may also be eligible to have the majority of their general education requirements waived. Students who have successfully completed the appropriate courses and earned the Associate of Science or Associate of Arts & Sciences in Business Administration should enter VCU as juniors, prepared to enter the Advanced Business Program portion of this degree.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School	Students who have successfully completed the appropriate courses and earned the Associate of Science or Associate of Arts & Sciences in Business Administration should enter VCU as juniors, prepared to enter the Advanced Business Program portion of this degree.
