Considerations for Selecting Degree The Liberal Arts program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree, usually the Bachelor of Arts degree, in the liberal arts or social sciences. Students are urged to acquaint themselves with the requirements of the major department in planning their programs. Students should select this curriculum if they intend to major in one of the following disciplines: Economics, English, Foreign Language, Pre-Law, History, Humanities, Journalism, Library Science, Literature, Philosophy, Political Science, Government, Religion, or Sociology.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Germanna Community College within your first year
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses Students in this program should enroll in SDV 100, ENG 111, a History elective, a MTH elective, and a Foreign Language elective their first semester. Students are encouraged to complete English and Math their first year.

Transfer Guidance Element What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students who transfer with a completed Associate degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other individual course transfer. Students who transfer with a completed Bachelor degree from a U.S. college or university will be awarded SDV 100, ENG 111 and ENG 112. The transcript will be evaluated for other individual course transfer.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School Students earning an associate degree while in high school are not eligible for guaranteed admission programs. All courses are evaluated and transferred as applicable to your degree.
