Associate of Science Degree in Education

Mountain Gateway Community College

The Education program pathway provides the first two years of study toward a bachelor's degree and licensure to teach. Students in this pathway will participate in education courses as well as a total of 60 hours of in-class observation in readiness for their transfer to a department/school of Education at a four-year college/university. Students will also have an opportunity at MGCC for an education internship and will be prepared for that final step of attaining their degree and licensure at

Students who transfer after completing this program may wish to pursue licensure in fields such as: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle School Education and Secondary Education, Special Education.

Considerations for Selecting Degree The Education program provides the first two years of a guided pathway for students interested in completing a four-year college or university degree, with licensure to teach. This curriculum provides general education in a program leading to a career at the kindergarten, elementary, middle school, and/or secondary levels.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion We award SDV 100 credit for prior learning for transfer students who have completed an Associate degree or higher.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School Students earning an associate degree while in high school are not eligible for guaranteed admission programs and must complete 3 college specific general education courses. All courses are evaluated and transferred as applicable to your degree.
