The education studies major prepares graduates to be discerning communicators, critical thinkers, and reflective problem-solvers committed to creating supportive and collaborative learning communities that value diversity, equity, and inclusivity, meeting the needs of all learners. It provides a broad overview of the foundation and issues in education, including but not limited to the following:
- Education systems and stakeholders
- Learner development and learning differences
- Instructional planning and curriculum design
- Assessment and evaluation
- Facilitating continuous improvement in education
The education studies program does not result in teacher licensure, so it is not intended for students preparing to teach in public K-12 schools. Instead, it is designed for students interested in education-related careers (i.e., education lawyers, policymakers, corporate trainers, instructional designers, curriculum publishers, school counselors, or higher education professionals).

| Considerations for Selecting Degree | The Education Studies major is intended for those who wish to pursue careers in education that do not involve teaching at the K-12 level. It does not lead to licensure. It is suitable for students who may want to go into corporate training or coaching, teaching at the college level, education law, or other related fields. It consists of required education courses as well as affiliated courses from departments across the college which develop students' breadth and depth of content knowledge. Students complete fieldwork experiences in each education class that they take in our program, where they observe classes in action and participate in mini-lessons in the classroom. The Education Studies Program culminates in an internship that is customized to the student's career goals. |

| Associate Transfer Degree Completion | Students admitted under our guaranteed admissions agreement are guaranteed completion of most general education requirements. Students may need to complete additional foreign language coursework to complete the Effective Communication requirements and must complete the college's Cross-Area Requirements, most of which can be fulfilled through major programs and should not significantly increase the time to completion of degree.

| Applying for Guaranteed Admissions | GAA students must complete the RMC transfer application and submit all required materials by June 1 (for fall term) or December 1 (for spring term). GAA students will submit an Intent to Transfer form through their current community college contact to RMC. |
