Bachelor of ArtsHollins University
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree program in Elementary Education prepares competent, caring, and qualified teachers able to meet the educational needs of diverse populations in today’s schools. Through a wide range of academic work in the liberal arts as well as authentic field experiences, students develop a strong background in both content knowledge and pedagogy. They become informed decision-makers, constructivist educators, reflective practitioners, and life-long learners fully prepared to thrive in the ever-changing educational landscape. The Hollins University Education Program is nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Outcomes
SLO 1: TSW collaborate with all stakeholders in the learning community and apply knowledge of individual differences to design and implement safe, motivating, active learning environments that promote collaboration and student agency. SLO 2: TSW apply content and pedagogical knowledge to create cross-disciplinary, real-world, relevant learning environments using a variety of communication and instructional delivery tools. SLO 3: TSW design differentiated instruction that aligns learning objectives and standards with appropriate and varied formative/summative assessments and instructional strategies. SLO 4: TSW engage in professional learning and collaboration to evaluate and improve their professional practice, develop leadership skills, and advance the profession.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion | Completion of a qualifying VCCS associate degree program will guarantee completion of the general education component of the Hollins undergraduate curriculum but may not fulfill specific departmental requirements or prerequisites needed for the major. |
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School | Students earning an associate degree while in high school are not eligible for guaranteed admission programs and must complete general education courses. All courses are evaluated and transferred as applicable to your degree. |
Credit for Prior Learning | We accept AP and IB results for college credit if the score earned meets college expectations. Transfer credits will be considered for CLEP (College Level Examination Program) on an individual basis for examinations if Hollins offers a comparable course. |
