The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accountancy requires 121 hours of undergraduate coursework. However, after July 1, 2006, the Commonwealth of Virginia will require 150 of education to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Considerations for Selecting Degree	The most important success strategy in this program is to adhere to the prerequisite sequences, as indicated on the Accountancy curriculum.
Considerations When Selecting Courses	Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year. Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses	Grades of C or higher are required for all ACC, BUS, ECN, ENG, and MTH courses.
Doing More With Your Degree	A student majoring in Accountancy might also either major or minor in Business.The two degrees have about the same course requirements, except for 18 credit hours. This will make it easier for the student to double major and obtain two different degrees.
Program Successes & Highlights	The School of Business benefits from the tremendous support of its Advisory Board. This is a group of successful individuals at the executive level of a number of companies from a variety of industries such as banking, healthcare, and transportation. The Advisory Board provides financial support through scholarships that have benefited a considerable number of successful School of Business students. This is in addition to assisting students with securing internships at their respective companies. Over the years, retention and graduation rates have fluctuated. Between Fall 2016 and Fall 2020, the retention rates were between 60% and 100%, and the six-year graduation rates were between 23% and 56% (cohorts: Fall 2010 to Fall 2014).

What If I Have An Associate Degree Or Credit For Prior Learning?

Transfer Guidance Element	What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion	Completion of the general education certificate or a transfer-oriented associate degree program will guarantee completion of the University Core general education component of the NSU undergraduate curriculum but may not fulfill specific departmental requirements or prerequisites needed for the major.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School	Students earning an associate degree while in high school are not eligible for guaranteed admission programs and must complete 3 college-specific general education courses. All courses are evaluated and trasnferred as applicable to your degree.
Credit for Prior Learning	We accept AP, IB, and CLEP results for college credit if the score earned meets college expectations.

Completing your Associate transfer degree post-high school satisfies all lower division general education requirements and increases the chance of completing your bachelor's degree?
