From microeconomics to economics on the largest scale, the accounting major at UVA Wise prepares graduates to kick-start their careers in a variety of accounting roles. Offerings for this major equip students to master spreadsheets, take part in business simulations, communicate, and audit. Alumni of this program hold positions in accounting at healthcare organizations, leading industrial companies, in government, and in smaller organizations.

Considerations for Selecting Degree This degree offers a clear path for students interested in an accounting career. Great for detail-oriented students with the ability to critically analyze data. Requires introductory math and statistical reasoning courses with upper level emphasis on areas best suited for preparing for Certified Public Accountancy.

Doing More With Your Degree Students may also add a minor (business administration, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, leadership studies, marketing, and military science) to their study and those who earn 150 hours can sit for the CPA exam. Students may choose to take advantage of internships, join the Innovators Club, delve into undergraduate research, and/or engage in service learning projects..

Associate Transfer Degree Completion Completion of an Associates of Arts or Associate if Science degree will fullfill all general education requirements at Wise with the exception of foreign language and four cultural activity credits. Depending on the major of choice, some general education courses may fulfil major requirements.

If you have a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree complete, you will be able to step right into your major and begin the work on completing your bachelor's degree at UVA WISE.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School If you have a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree complete, you will be able to step right into your major and begin the work on completing your bachelor's degree at UVA WISE.
Credit for Prior Learning UVA Wise accepts CLEP, AP, IB and Cambridge credits for students who meet specified scores.

    • New Student Fees of $2750 apply to every student and includes Student Information System, Student Activity, and Technology fees.
  • Part Time Students
    • Students that take less than 12 credits hour per semester are charged $250 per credit hour as well student fees.
    • Students that take more than 18 hour per semester are charged $250 per credit hour but no additional fees apply.
Other Financial Aid to Pay for College:
  • You may be eligible for additional financial aid from Federal, State, and Local sources. Military education benefits are not considered in determining eligibility for federal financial aid. Everyone is therefore encouraged to apply for federal financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), because many will qualify for additional educational funds like Pell Grants, worth over $5,500/yr.
