The B.S. in Tourism and Events Management degree prepares students to become future managers and leaders in one of the world's largest and most diverse industries: tourism, events and hospitality. Our Tourism and Events Management (TEM) major focuses on the management, planning, implementation, marketing, and evaluation of tourism, events, and hospitality businesses. Courses in Tourism and Events Management are designed to provide a variety of management competencies and fieldwork experiences, which lay the foundation for a successful career in the wide and dynamic world of tourism, events, and hospitality.

Considerations for Selecting Degree	This degree program is for students who want an exciting career in the tourism, events management, and hospitality industries. The combination of coursework and field experience ensures students will graduate with a level of competency and working knowledge that qualifies them for leadership responsibilities in these growing sectors. This degree program includes experiential, theoretical, and analytical components which give students a broad general education complemented by a strong management and problem-solving orientation. Students receive “hands-on” real-world experience through program fieldwork requirements.

Program Successes & Highlights	In 2022, there were 22 million new jobs in this industry, representing a 7.9% increase in over 2021. Employment of meeting, convention, and event planners is projected to grow 18 percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the national average for all other occupations. Alumni of this program have gone on to work for organizations such as Destination DC, Disney World, Hilton, Make a Wish Foundation, Marriott, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the Washington Convention Center, and many others.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion	Transfer associate degree completion is recommended. RBC and VCCS students completing A.A., A.A.& S., A.F.A, or A.S. degrees receive a lower-level Mason Core waiver.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School	Students who earn an associate degree through high school dual enrollment should still apply as freshmen and are not eligible for GAA. College coursework will be evaluated for transferable course credit.
