Transfer Guides are designed to maximize transfer credit as students complete their associate degree at the community college before transferring to the bachelor's degree program. If you are a current Virginia Community College student or are planning to start at a Virginia Community College before transferring to this institution and program, please follow the Transfer Guide to plan your courses at the community college. In order to facilitate planning and advising, bachelor’s students normally declare a major when they enter their college. However, students may enroll in a degree program in the without declaring a major upon entry. Students who have not declared a major are considered “Undeclared” and may be eligible for all forms of scholarships and financial aid, provided other eligibility criteria are met. Bachelor’s students may accumulate a maximum of forty-five (45) credit hours (including any transfer credit) before declaring a major (thus declaring the major no later than the second semester of the sophomore year).

Transfer Guidance Element What You Need to Know
Associate Transfer Degree Completion Transfer students with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Arts & Sciences (A.A.S.) degree who meet the minimum requirements for admission will receive transfer credit for all eligible courses subject to normal transfer credit policy. Regent with a qualifying associates will have all general education requirements waived except for Regent-specific foundational courses, general education courses specified by their major or required as prerequisites for courses in their major.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School Transfer students with an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Arts & Sciences (A.A.S.) degree who meet the minimum requirements for admission will receive transfer credit for all eligible courses subject to normal transfer credit polic. Students with a qualifying associates will have all general education requirements waived except for Regent-specific foundational courses, general education courses specified by their major or required as prerequisites for courses in their major.
Credit for Prior Learning Regent accepts CLEP, AP, IB, DSST, Excelsior Exams, and select Industry Certifications .
