Roanoke College
Economics offers a powerful approach to addressing the critical issues facing humanity. For example, economists study how to eliminate poverty, address inequality, improve health, improve our natural environment, and avoid financial crises. Our mission is to educate students in how to draw upon the art and science of economics to address these and other critical issues, and thereby prepare them for responsible lives of learning, service, and leadership, and whole person development.
Outcomes
1: Perform a critical analysis of an economic issue, calling on their broad economics learning. 2: Recognize and apply marginal analysis. 3: Explain how economists define, measure, and interpret macroeconomic variables. 4: Understand proper research design and apply appropriate econometric techniques. 5: Provide a pre or post neo classical account of the economy. 6: Develop a research question, understand how it adds to the relevant economic literature, and answer the research question using economic research techniques.

What If I Have An Associate Degree Or Credit For Prior Learning?

| Associate Transfer Degree Completion | Courses completed as part of an associate's degree or general education certificate will be evaluated by our Registrar at admission, and appropriate transfer credits will be awarded. Nearly all general education requirements can be completed with transfer credits. Transferrable courses from an accredited college or university will apply to general education, major, and graduation requirements. UCGS and Passport courses will all transfer. |
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School | Transferrable courses from an accredited college or university taken as dual enrollment while in high school will apply to general education, major, and graduation requirements. Up to three additional World Language courses can satisfy the language requirement. UCGS and Passport courses will all transfer. |
