Economics helps explain markets and transactions, wealth and poverty, financial events, government programs and policies, and the structure of societies. As one of the classical disciplines, economics examines many of the most fundamental and controversial issues is society and seeks to explain human behavior. The major in economics is designed for students with interests in either graduate studies (law, history, economics, business, sociology, political science, international affairs, conflict transformation, development) or immediate employment in the public or private sector.
