Spanish language offerings at UVA Wise include courses in conversation, grammar and composition, literature, civilization, history, and special topics and independent research. Students who major in Spanish also take a selection of courses in translation, phonetics, and/or linguistics.ΓΏ

Considerations for Selecting Degree The Spanish major consists mostly of Spanish classes in both the culture of countries where these languages are spoken as well as literature written in the target language, along with the option of nine additional hours in another discipline.
Considerations When Selecting Courses

Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses
Doing More With Your Degree Department minors include English, French, German, and Hispanic and Hispanic-American Studies. Graduates may pursue jobs in teaching, publishing, international business and corporate technical writing, medicine, law as well as graduate school opportunities in literature, writing and pedagogy, and more.
Program Successes & Highlights Undergraduate Research. Coffee Night Presentations. The Office of International Programs provides various short- and long-term study abroad opportunities for our students in countries that speak the languages that we teach.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion Completion of an Associates of Arts or Associate if Science degree will fullfill all general education requirements at Wise with the exception of foreign language and four cultural activity credits. Depending on the major of choice, some general education courses may fulfil major requirements.

If you have a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree complete, you will be able to step right into your major and begin the work on completing your bachelor's degree at UVA WISE.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School If you have a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree complete, you will be able to step right into your major and begin the work on completing your bachelor's degree at UVA WISE.
Credit for Prior Learning UVA Wise accepts CLEP, AP, IB and Cambridge credits for students who meet specified scores.

    • New Student Fees of $2750 apply to every student and includes Student Information System, Student Activity, and Technology fees.
  • Part Time Students
    • Students that take less than 12 credits hour per semester are charged $250 per credit hour as well student fees.
    • Students that take more than 18 hour per semester are charged $250 per credit hour but no additional fees apply.

  • You may be eligible for additional financial aid from Federal, State, and Local sources. Military education benefits are not considered in determining eligibility for federal financial aid. Everyone is therefore encouraged to apply for federal financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), because many will qualify for additional educational funds like Pell Grants, worth over $5,500/yr.
