The Criminology and Criminal Justice major provides a broad understanding of the nature of crime and the operation of the criminal justice system in the United States by way of diverse course offerings addressing contemporary issues in this field. Both theoretical and applied approaches are used to prepare students for contemporary academic and professional opportunities. Students majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice will be prepared to work in entry-level positions in law enforcement, courts or corrections agencies at the local, state or federal levels or to continue their studies at the graduate level. The major equips students with the social science tools requisite to achieve personal and professional goals, have flexible minds with the curiosity for lifelong personal growth and be engaged members of society.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion	Completion of an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Science will guarantee completion of general education requirements.
Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School	Completion of an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts and Science prior to high school graduation will guarantee completion of general education requirements with the exception that the First Year Seminar (3 credits) must be completed upon enrollment to SU.
