Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing

Wytheville Community College

The two-year Associate Degree program is designed to prepare students educationally as contributing members of the health team, rendering direct patient care as beginning practitioners of nursing in a variety of health services facilities. At the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to make application to the Board of Nursing for their respective state to be considered for eligibility to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) leading to licensure as a registered nurse (R.N.).

Outcomes

The graduates of the Nursing program will be educated to deliver safe, patient centered nursing care to a diverse population with health alterations in structured health care settings. It is the expectation that students will take and pass the NCLEX exam and be employed as a Registered Nurse within 6 to12 months of graduation

Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students who transfer with a completed Associate degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other individual course transfer. Students who transfer with a completed Bachelor degree from a U.S. college or university will be awarded SDV 100, ENG 111 and ENG 112. The transcript will be evaluated for other individual course transfer.
