1) Candidates demonstrate accurate knowledge of the foundations (characteristics, legal and medical aspects) for educating students with disabilities. 2) Candidates demonstrate accurate application of assessment related to best special education practice. 3) Candidates demonstrate knowledge, application, and evaluation of strategies of behavior management and individual interventions that promote conducive learning environments for students with disabilities. 4)Candidates demonstrate effective skills in case management in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. 5) Candidates have knowledge of definitions, characteristics and learning and behavioral supports of students with disabilities. 6) Candidates demonstrate knowledge and effective application of reading and writing instruction of students with disabilities. 7) Candidates demonstrate knowledge and effective application of math instruction of students with disabilities. 8) Candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to prepare students and work with families to provide successful student transitions throughout their educational experience. 9) Candidates demonstrate the dispositions required to be successful, reflective educators. 10) Candidates demonstrate accurate knowledge and application of core content (i.e. Math, Science, Language Arts, History and Social Sciences).
