With the development of business and industry in Virginia, there is a demand for qualified personnel to assist business management in this economic growth. The Associate of Applied Science Degree curriculum in Management is designed for individuals who seek employment in business management immediately upon completion of the community college curriculum. This program prepares students for employment in such positions as Administrative Assistant Trainee, Branch Manager Trainee, Department Head, Manager of Small Business, Manager Trainee, Office Manager, and Executive Assistant.
Outcomes
1. Demonstrate the importance of professionalism in the work environment and its relationship to organizational structure and culture. 2. Demonstrate the importance of communication in achieving operational results in organizations. 3. Apply a critical thinking/problem solving process for making a viable choice among a variety of options. 4. Evaluate organizational decisions with consideration of the political, legal and ethical aspects of business. 5. Assess strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the business environment. 6. Relate basic management theories to the supervisory/management of basic business functions. 7. Prepare, use, and analyze financial information of business organizations to support decision making.
