Marymount's B.S. in Mechanical Engineering provides students a foundation in mechanical, electrical and computer engineering centered around making an impact on healthcare. Students will complete foundational projects involving use of both traditional and additive manufacturing technologies and basic electronics to rapidly innovate solutions to challenges faced by the world. Highlights of the program include a variety of design projects interspersed throughout the curriculum that all students will complete to build their foundational knowledge of engineering.

| Considerations for Selecting Degree | Engineering is a major that is heavy in math and science requirements and is highly technical. Students in engineering will be building technological solutions to problems facing the world using computer aided design, digital fabrication tools (3D printing, laser cutting), traditional manufacturing (CNC, woodworking), microcontroller electronics and software development/computer programming. Interest in these technical areas and in learning how the engineering design process works to generate new technologies from technical knowledge is of paramount importance for students considering engineering. Students in biomedical engineering will study how technology can help diagnose, augment or assist with human performance and health. Hands-on, group work will be encouraged and a final capstone project centered on a professional engineering project are hallmarks. |
| Considerations When Selecting Courses |
Engineering is a credit-heavy major with a lot of prerequisite requirements to permit advanced coursework. It is recommended to take MTH 261, PHY 231, PHY 232, CHM 111, CHM 112 to prepare for transfer into the program.

| Doing More With Your Degree | Engineering students can obtain minors in both mathematics and physical science fields by completing the engineering curriculum. Students will have excellent technical expertise in hardware and software which will allow for a wide variety of post-graduation options. Upon graduation, students can pursue professional careers in industry or pursue further graduate studies in a variety of engineering disciplines, mathematics and data/computer science. In addition, career growth in engineering is anticipated to be high with excellent potential for high entry-level salaries throughout the world. |
