The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree program in Studio Art provides students a foundation from which they can build careers as practicing artists or enter art-related fields. The major provides a curriculum that emphasizes the mastery of basic skills in a variety of media as well as conceptual development critical to continued maturation. The studio art major follows a sequence that begins with introductory courses and culminates in the completion of a year-long senior project, pieces of which are shown in the senior exhibition each spring.
Outcomes
SLO 1: Students will demonstrate technical and conceptual proficiency through a body of work. SLO 2: Students will be able to critique and analyze works of art and visual objects. SLO 3: Students will demonstrate fluency with formal elements of 2D art.

Considerations for Selecting Degree | Hollins is proud to offer an inspiring and immersive studio art program. You’ll study and make art in the Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center, which offers space for drawing and painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics, and photography. All senior studio art majors have their own studio on the top floor. You’ll learn in small classes from visionary professors and in workshops conducted by accomplished artists-in-residence. Studio art majors show their work in the annual senior exhibition in the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum, also housed within the Wetherill Visual Arts Center. |
