Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing

The Associate Degree Nursing program provides students with the classes needed to be eligible to apply to take the RN licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a Registered Nurse.  Lectures, labs and clinicals are required.  The program is nationally accredited by ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing).

Outcomes

This program prepares graduates with the course work necessary to be eligible to apply to take the RN licensure examination (NCLEX-RN) and is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. This program is also accrediated by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Considerations for Selecting Degree Upon completion you will be able to provide safe, direct care in acute and non-acute settings. You may also apply to sit for the examination to become a registered nurse.

Prerequisites: (Fall/Spring): 4 CR BIO, 1 CR College Success Skills, 3 CR English Composition, 3 CR ITE, 3 CR Psychology. Students will then take a total of 8 CR Biology, 3 CR English, 3 CR of a Humanities elective, and 42 CR of Nursing courses to include clinical labs.

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
