Students will learn the skills and knowledge to work as a registered nurse. Students who complete the program can apply to take the licensing exam.

Is This Degree Right For Me? This is a full time requiring on-site class and clinical experiences. The program is demanding and working full time while enrolled in this program is not recommended. Employment schedules need to be flexible to be able to accommodate clinical requirements. Clinical schedules are variable. This is a full-time program.
What Should I Consider When Selecting Courses

All pre-requisite courses must be completed by the application deadline. Pre-requisite courses include SDV 101, BIO 141, PSY 230 and ENG 111

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and J Sargeant Reynolds Community College within your first year via College Connect
Are there other program requirements beyond specific courses? BIO 141, BIO 142, BIO 150 or any BIO equivalent transfer courses for credit must be taken within 7 years of admission into the first semester of the program
Do More With Your Degree Prepares students to work as registered nurses in a variety of hospital and community based settings.
Program Successes & Highlights We have partnerships with VCU and HCA for clinical placements. The program enables students to be workforce ready in two years. Many graduates go on to earn their BSN, MSN and Doctoral degrees. Many workplaces provide tuition remission for employees to obtain their advanced degree.
