Associate of Applied Science with a major in Nursing

Southside Virginia Community College

The program in Nursing equips the student with the knowledge and skills needed to begin professional practice in the care, counseling, and education of health care consumers in a variety of settings. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the student is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensing Exam-Registered Nurse). The SVCC Nursing Program assists in providing a competent entry-level Registered Nursing workforce for health care providers in Southside Virginia. SVCC works in conjunction with local PN programs and Old Dominion University's Teletechnet BSN Program to encourage continuing education.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion The student development (SDV 100) requirement at SVCC is waived for students who have completed an associate or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. All other coursework is evaluated and transferred as applicable to your degree.

Credit for Prior Learning We accept AP, IB, Dantes, and CLEP results for college credit if the score earned meets college expectations.
