Associate of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology - Energy Specialization
Associate of Applied ScienceBrightpoint Community College
This two-year degree prepares students to be mechanical engineering technologists with a focus on energy utilization and power generation systems. Technologists help mechanical engineers design, develop, test, and manufacture mechanical devices; install, repair, test, adjust, and operate energy-related devices like photovoltaic and wind turbine systems; create, review and edit CAD drawing; or assist with development phases in research and development labs.
Outcomes
By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an intermediate level of competency in the following skills:
- Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to the discipline.
- Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments, and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results.
- Display professional ethics and to function effectively as a member of a technical team.
