Considerations When Selecting Courses

Course work should be completed in the order it appears in the catalog.

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Southwest Virginia Community College within your first year
Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses Students receive a lot of hands on training throughout this program. There are several lab based classes that will cover topics such as robotics, mechanisms, process controls, basic electricity, and hydraulic/pneumatics.
Doing More With Your Degree Continue your education and earn an Associates of Applied Science degree in Electrical/Electronics. Many of the courses required for the mechatronics certificate will count towards the Associates Degree.
