BA Interdisciplinary Major
Bachelor of ArtsHollins University
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree program with an Interdisciplinary Major enables a student to construct from two or more disciplines a course of study not available through one department. The student consults with advisors from two different departments to help construct the major, which will consist of at least eight courses, including: • A course in research methods in one of the disciplines, or the equivalent • At least four 300-level courses • A 300-level independent study addressing the interdisciplinary field • An internship related to the area of interest Students produce a capstone portfolio by the end of the senior year, which includes coursework, research, a resume, career goals, internship details, and more. The interdisciplinary major allows motivated students to pursue areas of study that interest them, with the guidance of faculty.
Outcomes

SLO 2: Students will demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills applicable to their field(s) of study. SLO 3: Students will be able to articulate future career and/or educational goals.

What If I Have An Associate Degree Or Credit For Prior Learning?

Transfer Guidance Element | What You Need to Know |

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School | Students earning an associate degree while in high school are not eligible for guaranteed admission programs and must complete general education courses. All courses are evaluated and transferred as applicable to your degree. |
Credit for Prior Learning | We accept AP and IB results for college credit if the score earned meets college expectations. Transfer credits will be considered for CLEP (College Level Examination Program) on an individual basis for examinations if Hollins offers a comparable course. |
