Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Expand or Shrink Accordion
  • Using the rules of integration and the substitution technique, evaluate various definite and indefinite integral functions and forms, including trigonometric, inverse trigonometric, hyperbolic, inverse hyperbolic, and logarithmic, and define the hyperbolic
  • Solve applications of integration, including areas under curves, volumes of solids of revolution (disc and shell methods), work, and fluid force problems.
  • Use the separation of variables technique to solve the differential equation associated with exponential growth/decay, apply this technique to solve growth/decay applications (including Newton’s Law of Cooling and radioactive decay), and solve first-order
  • Evaluate definite and indefinite integrals using various advanced integration techniques, including integration by parts, trigonometric integrals, trigonometric substitution, partial fractions, and improper integrals.
  • Determine the convergence/divergence of infinite sequences and series, including using the Nth-Term Test for Divergence, P-Series, the Integral Test, the Direct and Limit Comparison Tests, the Ratio Test, the Root Test, and the Alternating Series Test.
  • Derive power series, Taylor polynomials, Taylor series, and Maclaurin series generated by various functions and determine intervals on which these series converge to their generating functions.
  • Convert points and equations between polar and rectangular coordinate systems, graph parametric and polar equations, and find areas of polar graphs.
