Learning Objectives and Outcomes

- Find limits of functions, including using L’Hopital’s Rule for indeterminate forms and determine a function’s continuity.
- Find the derivatives of basic functions using the definition of derivative, the derivatives of various functions (including polynomial, rational, trigonometric, inverse trigonometric, exponential and logarithmic) using the rules of differentiation, and use
- Find the equation of a line tangent to a curve at a given point and find linearizations and differentials of a function at a given point.
- Solve applications of differentiation, including velocity and acceleration, related rates, maxima/minima problems (area, volume, cost, revenue, and profit), uninhibited growth and decay, absolute extrema of a function on a closed interval, relative extrema
- Approximate the area under a graph using rectangles, evaluate Riemann sums to determine area under a curve, and evaluate indefinite and definite integrals using integration formulas and the substitution principle.
- Use integration to find the area between two curves and solve problems of displacement, velocity, and acceleration.
