A history of architecture, sculpture, and the pictorial world arts. The first semester deals with prehistoric through Gothic art; the second semester, Renaissance through modern art. It is not necessary for the semesters to be taken in chronological order.

  • The student will have an understanding of the Sociological Imagination and how individual experiences and societal forces are influenced by factors such as diversity, social stratification, and social institutions.
  • The student will have an understanding of sociology as a science, including how it differs from other social and natural sciences and how scientific research within the field is conducted.
  • The student will be able to explain the sociological paradigms and apply these theoretical approaches to varying social situations.
  • The student will define basic sociological terms and concepts relating to key areas of importance such as culture, socialization, group dynamics, and areas of social inequality such as social stratification, race and ethnicity, gender, etc.
