The certificate program in Practical Nursing is designed to prepare beginning practitioners for careers as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with the knowledge and skills to care for clients of all age groups and function as contributing members of the health care team in a variety of health service facilities. At the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) leading to licensure as a practical nurse.

Considerations for Selecting Degree The certificate program in Practical Nursing is designed to prepare beginning practitioners for careers as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with the knowledge and skills to care for clients of all age groups and function as contributing members of the health care team in a variety of health service facilities. Considerations When Selecting Courses

  • Create a schedule for all required courses, pay attention to prerequisites and when courses are offered, complete your first math and English courses in your first year
  • Connect with an advisor at your community college and Eastern Shore Community College within your first year

Associate Transfer Degree Completion Students must earn 25% of their credits at ESCC for an Associate degree from our institution. Students who transfer to ESCC with a completed Associate or Bachelor's degree will be awarded SDV 100 and will have their transcript evaluated for other course transfer.

Completion of Associate Degree Concurrent with High School ESCC does not distinguish between students earning an associate degree concurrently, while in high school, or after high school graduation.
