Brightpoint Community College
This three-semester program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the heating and air conditioning field. It provides the classroom training required to sit for the state journeyman licensing exam.
Outcomes
By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an introductory level of competency in the following skills:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the basic components in the compression refrigeration cycle and the purpose of each component.
- Operate oxyacetylene and turbo torch outfits and successfully and braze copper tubing connections with proficiency.
- Install required electrical components and electrical wiring of a typical heating and air conditioning system.
- Successfully complete the Environmental Protection Agency 608 Technician Certification test, as required by the federal Clean Air Act of 1990.
