To provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills in health records, medical coding, and reimbursement processes. The program’s primary focus is on the current version of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding for physician coding applications in preparation for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and/or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exams.

Outcomes

Prepare students to take American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) and/or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exams.

Associate Transfer Degree Completion SDV 100, College Success Skills, will be granted to all students who have completed an associate degree or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

BRCC will award applicable transfer credit for courses completed at other post-secondary educational institutions, provided certain criteria are met.
