BA in Communication Studies
Bachelor of ArtsHollins University
In the Communication Studies Bachelor of Arts (BA) program, we study the processes through which humans create and share meaning. You learn about these processes in a variety of contexts, including relationships, media, organizations, politics and global cultures. In consultation with an advisor, you tailor your program to prepare for life as a global citizen, and for a career in a field such as media production, social media management, journalism, public relations or communication in organizations, or for further study in graduate or professional school.
Outcomes
SLO 1: Students will memorize the facts of ancient world, i.e. vocabulary, chronology, syntax, artistic forms, genres, historical events, etc. SLO 2: Students will analyze and identify “texts” (works of art, genres, dialogues, etc.) and demonstrate an ability to perform a close-reading of those texts. SLO 3: Students will demonstrate a capacity to formulate questions, critique and interpret scholarly opinions, as well as propose original solutions.
