This one-year, hands-on program prepares students to be energy technology technicians. Technicians help design, or assemble, install, maintain, and repair geothermal, solar, or wind turbines systems, or work as power plant operators, distributors, and dispatchers who control the systems that generate and distribute electric power. This program is offered at the Chester Campus. All career-technical degrees are guided by advisory committees comprised of local business leaders.
Outcomes
By the completion of this program, students will be expected to demonstrate an intermediate level of competency in the following skills:
- Install electro-mechanical components according to manufacturer’s specifications;
- Perform alignment, calibration, and maintenance procedures as specified by manufacturers;
- Troubleshoot failures, malfunctions, and misapplication of electro-mechanical components;
- Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results;
- Display professional ethics and to function effectively as a member of a technical team.
