MUS260: Music History:Antiquity to Baroque Style

A detailed study of the ancient Judeo/Greco/Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque musical style periods through examination of important historical movements and works that influenced the patronage and function of music, musical devices, compositional forms, and composers. Specific works with clearly observable stylistic features are studied as illustrations of historically significant genres, styles, or techniques. This course satisifes three hours of the Fine Arts requirement for General Education. Prerequisite: MUS103 or permission of instructor.
