CHEM213: Organic Chemistry Lab I

First semester of a two-semester laboratory course designed to provide a sound foundation in the basic methods of performing organic chemical reactions. The course introduces glassware and reaction techniques used in synthetic organic chemistry. The course further illustrates methods used for monitoring chemical reactions, and for isolation and purification of reaction products. Prerequisite: CHEM 211 maybe taken concurrently. The course consists of one 1-hour lecture and a 2-hour laboratory period per week (1 credit).
