Read this document to plan your packing for college.

If you’re planning to live on campus (in a residence hall or apartment) or off-campus, you’re likely to need the following items:

  • Bedding, including sheets, pillows, comforter, mattress pad/cover

  • Towels, washcloths

  • Clothes and clothes hangers

    • Clothes to include shirts, pants, sweaters/sweatshirts, underwear, socks, shoes, athletic clothing, pajamas, bathrobe, slippers, jackets, coats, gloves, and other items that may be dependent on climate and weather

    • Laundry detergent

  • Laundry basket and drying rack

  • Trash can

  • Reading light

  • Umbrella

  • Bowls, plates, cups/mugs

  • Snacks

  • Utensils

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Toiletries such as shower caddy, shampoo and other hair products, brush, comb, razor, shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, mouthwash, aspirin or other similar products, Q-tips, cotton balls, toilet paper, nail clippers, band-aids, Neosporin

  • Paper towels

  • Supplies for college

    • Electronics, such as laptop, flash drive, cell phone, chargers, batteries, power strips

    • Class items, such as notebooks, planners, folders, index cards, pens, pencils, highlighters, sharpies, post-it notes, paper clips, stapler

  • Backpack

  • Medications, health records, health insurance cards

  • ID cards

  • Cleaning supplies

  • Storage

  • Emergency contact(s) information

Off-campus living may also require the following:

  • Furniture

    • Bed

    • Sofa

    • Chairs

    • Tables

    • Lamps

  • Area rugs

  • Coffee maker

  • Pots and pans

  • Groceries
