Information for students planning to transfer to Radford University through the GAA, upon completion of the associate degree. Students can get any transferable STEM associate degree, transfer to RU, and complete bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Data Information Management (DAIM)/Data Engineering at RU.

  • If you complete a transferable associate degree, RU's general education requirements will be waived. You will only need to complete major requirements and reach minimum overall credit hour requirements.

  • RU's General Education is designed to enable students to receive additional credentials in the form of second majors, minors, and certificates. Explore REAL Navigator for more information.

  • You can major in any STEM field at a community college. Radford University will accept courses with a grade of 'C' or better in each community college course applicable to the transfer degree from a VCCS institution.

  • Refer to RU's major specific transfer guides to learn about specific requirements for your intended major in the Artis College of Science and Technology (ACST) at RU. All ACST majors will be available to you through this GAA.

  • You must complete application for your intended undergraduate degree (UD) program at ACST in compliance with the program's application dates. After applying to an UD program, you must apply to the Accelerated Master's degree program no less than 4 months before starting graduate classes. The application must include at least 1 letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the degree granting community college. By meeting these requirements, you are guaranteed admission into the DAIM/Data Engineering Accelerated Master's degree program at RU.

  • Take Database I (ITEC 340) the summer before your junior year at RU.

Guaranteed Admission Agreement Requirements

  • By meeting the following criteria, students who complete the prescribed curriculum and meet the criteria below are guaranteed admission into Radford University.

  • Earn a transferable associate degree

  • Earn a minimum of 2.8 cumulative GPA

  • Good standing at the current institution

  • Please visit the TransferVirginia.org portal to find course requirements for different majors and Transfer Guides that outline course requirements for specific majors.

  • Credit for Prior Learning: AP, IB, CLEP and other accelerated credit programs will be evaluated for credits (based on receipt and evaluation of official scores).

  • Catalog Year: Students will be subject to the catalog in effect at the time of enrollment at RU unless otherwise requested.

What Should I Consider When Selecting Courses?

  • Completing your English and first math courses in your first year is recommended.

Is This Degree Right For Me?

  • Admission to the university is guaranteed through this agreement and students are generally admitted into a pre-major during the transfer process. You will work with an assigned advisor to change into your degree granting path in any STEM major at the Artis College of Science and Technology at RU once requirements are met. You must send an email of intent/interest to msde@radford.edu as soon as you begin to consider the accelerated MS program in Data Information Management (DAIM)/Data Engineering at RU.

What Is The Impact On My Degree Of Work I Have Already Completed?

  • Associate Transfer Degree Completion: Students can major in any STEM field at a community college. The completion of the transfer-oriented degree program will satisfy the REAL Curriculum (lower division/general education) requirements. Students will need to complete all other University, college, and departmental requirements in order to obtain the Baccalaureate degree and Master's degree from RU.

  • Dual Enrollment – Completion of Associate Degree in HS: Students completing the associate degree in high school should apply using the freshman application. If admitted, the student will receive the benefits associated with the transferable associate degree (as noted prior).
