How are Dual Enrollment Credits Treated JMU may accept college credit that is earned while a student is concurrently enrolled in high school, called Dual Enrollment Credit. Each course taken at another institution is evaluated individually, and credit will be allowed only for equivalent college courses offered at JMU in which a grade of "C" or better has been earned.
If You Complete an Associates Degree in High School A student with dual enrollment credits or an Associate degree completed concurrent with high school is eligible.
Key Additional Requirements Students must:
  • Complete the JMU application for admission and be offered admission to the university; the Nursing Program Admission Agreement does not guarantee admission to the university
  • Complete the JMU Department of Nursing RN-BSN Program application
  • Graduate with an A.A.S. in Nursing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a four-point scale
  • Have a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license prior to entering JMU
  • Earn a grade of "C" or higher in each course I wish to transfer to JMU
  • The requirement specifying that all RN/BSN applicants must have the equivalent of 12 months of full time practice experience is waived for students entering JMU under the Department of Nursing RN-BSN Admission Agreement; in lieu of the waived requirement, student is expected to work part-time in an acute care facility while attending JMU, thus satisfying the experience requirement in tandem with course work
  • Enroll in JMU in semester/year of intended enrollment specified on Intent form or no later than five years from the date of signing the agreement (student will be given a date for starting JMU nursing courses based on available space)
