How are Dual Enrollment Credits Treated JMU may accept college credit that is earned while a student is concurrently enrolled in high school, called Dual Enrollment Credit. Each course taken at another institution is evaluated individually, and credit will be allowed only for equivalent college courses offered at JMU in which a grade of "C" or better has been earned.
If You Complete an Associates Degree in High School A student with dual enrollment credits or an Associate degree completed concurrent with high school is eligible.
Key Additional Requirements Students must:
  • Have been accepted into the community college nursing program.
  • Present transcripts reflecting a cumulative GPA of all college work attempted of 2.5 or better on a 4-point scale.
  • Complete all prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or better.
  • Be able to meet JMU School of Nursing Technical Standard for nursing practice.
  • Complete a transcript review with the R.N. to B.S.N. program that reflects all prerequisite courses have been or will be completed by the time a student will enter the first co-enrollment semester are eligible for the R.N. to B.S.N. Co-Enrollment Program.
  • The Co-Enrollment Program MOA provides students the opportunity to dually enroll at JMU as Non-Degree Seeking Students while completing the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing. For a two-year period, community college nursing students enroll in specified JMU R.N. to B.S.N. Co-Enrollment Program courses and community college Clinical Component nursing courses concurrently; a total of 26 nursing credits earned during the co-enrollment period (13 credits earned at the community college and 13 credits earned at JMU) will be applied toward the B.S.N. Degree. After students earn the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing and obtain a current unrestricted R.N. license in any state, Washington D.C., or a U.S. possession or territory, they will be admitted to the JMU R.N. to B.S.N. Co-Enrollment Program as a degree-seeking student. Students must complete the Associate Degree in Nursing within 3 years; failure to complete an associate degree in nursing will result in automatic removal from the JMU R.N. to B.S.N. Co-Enrollment Program.
