Guaranteed Admission Agreement Requirements

• Earn a transfer associate degree.

• Earn a minimum GPA of 2.5 for your associate degree. VCU will recognize the cumulative GPA as recorded on the VCCS transcript and not recalculate based on multiple course attempts.

• Complete a minimum of 30 credits at VCCS institution.

• Earn grades of “C” or higher in all community college courses. VCU will accept credit for repeated courses for "D" or "F" grades.

Is This Degree Right For Me?

• Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences offers programs preparing students to pursue careers utilizing exercise interventions for healthy and diseased populations and/or careers designed for students who wish to enter healthcare-related field (not requiring licensure, certification or registry status). Department offers one undergraduate degree program: BS with either exercise science concentration or health science concentration. Health science concentration designed for students entering healthcare-related field (not requiring licensure, certification or registry status) such as corporate wellness, human services, nonprofit health promotion and medical and pharmaceutical sales. Graduates with health science concentration can be qualified to enter graduate or professional health science programs such as public health, health education and promotion, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, nursing, speech-language pathology, audiology, radiation safety, clinical laboratory science and health care administration.

What Is The Impact On My Degree Of Work I Have Already Completed?

• Associate Transfer Degree Completion: Completion results in all lower-division general education requirements met.

• Dual Enrollment - Completion of Associate Degree in HS: Results in 60 credits applied and VCU general education satisfied. High school students apply as freshman for orientation purposes.

• Credit for Prior Learning: VCU accepts AP, IB, Cambridge, CLEP, DANTES, military credits.

• Catalog Year: VCU honors degree requirements from Undergraduate Bulletin at time of first post-high-school enrollment. Students stay enrolled at community college max 4 years, enroll at VCU within 1 year of completing associate.

• Department offers accelerated BS to MS programs allowing students to earn both the BS in health, physical education, and exercise science and either the MS in gerontology or Master of Public Health  in a minimum 5 years by completing approved graduate courses during senior undergraduate year.
