• By meeting the following criteria, students who complete the prescribed curriculum and meet the criteria below are guaranteed admission into Radford University.
• Earn a transferable associate degree
• Earn a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA
• Be in good standing at the current institution

What Should I Consider When Selecting Courses?

Is This Degree Right For Me?

• Students in our program will gain a foundational understanding of typical speech, language, and hearing development and a basic knowledge of the assessment and treatment of a variety of communication disorders.
• Communication Sciences and Disorders curriculum provides coursework necessary for applications to graduate programs in speech-language pathology and audiology.
• Our on-campus clinic and clinical coursework provides opportunities for earning guided clinical observation hours and hands-on experiences.
• Our students interested in speech-language pathology or audiology pursue careers in medical settings (e.g., hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and skilled nursing facilities), private practices, and schools.

What Is The Impact On My Degree Of Work I Have Already Completed?

• Associate Transfer Degree Completion: The completion of the transfer-oriented degree program will satisfy the REAL Curriculum (lower division/general education) requirements. Students will need to complete all other University, college, and departmental requirements in order to obtain the baccalaureate degree from RU.
• Dual Enrollment — Completion of Associate Degree in HS: Students completing the associate degree in high school should apply using the freshman application. If admitted, the student will receive the benefits associated with the transferable associate degree (as noted prior).
• Credit for Prior Learning: AP, IB, and CLEP will be evaluated for credits (based on receipt and evaluation of scores). See https://catalog.radford.edu/index.php
• Catalog Year: Students will be subject to the catalog in effect at the time of enrollment at RU unless otherwise requested.

What Can I Do With This Degree?

• The majority of our undergraduate students go on to graduate school to become speech-language pathologists or audiologists. Most pursue careers in medical settings (e.g., hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and skilled nursing facilities), private practices, and schools.
• Some continue in graduate programs in related fields (e.g., education, occupational therapy). Students with an undergraduate degree in COSD also have the option to enter careers as a speech-language pathology assistant, registered behavior technician, newborn hearing screener, hearing instrument specialist, or therapeutic support staff.
