  • 2 semester hours of Wellness/Health is required for graduation at VSU. Recommended that students take a HLT course while at VCCS.

  • Students interested in pursuing degrees in the College of Business should consider taking ACC 211 & 212 and ECO 201 & 202

  • Students interested in pursuing degrees in the College of Engineering should consider taking MTH 161 and higher.

  • Students who know their potential major should follow Transfer Guide specific to major of interest. (i.e. Education, Business), which can be found on the Transfer Virginia portal (transfervirginia.org).

Guaranteed Admission Agreement: VSU/VCCS GAA

  • Students must complete AA or AS degree program

  • Students must earn a "C" or higher in courses for transfer

  • Students must earn a 2.0 GPA and higher

What Is The Impact On My Degree Of Work I Have Already Completed?

  • Associate Transfer Degree Completion: General Education Requirements waived

  • Dual Enrollment: GAA will be honored for students who earn an associate degree concurrently with a high school diploma through dual enrollment program.

  • Credit for Prior Learning: VSU accepts credits from prior learning to include, AP, IB, credits taken during military service (credits from Joint Services Transcript)

  • Catalog Year: 2024-2026

 

Is This College Right For Me?

  • VSU is a small Historically Black College & University (HBCU) that offers a traditional college experience. We enroll approximately 300 transfer students annually. The total student population is a little over 4300.

  • We are located on a spacious 236-acre suburban campus that overlooks the Appomattox River in Petersburg, VA. We are 25 miles south of Richmond and easy driving distance of Washington, DC, Virginia Beach and Roanoke. We have residence halls for transfer students that feature the comforts of home!

  • There are many opportunities to make friends and explore career and internship options with the Career Services Center and interests through clubs and activities as well as Division II Athletics.
