The major is designed for students seeking teaching endorsements at the PK–6 levels. Students will choose between the Elementary PK-6 track and/or the Special Education K-12 track.

UVA Wise’s Teacher Education Program is CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) accredited.
What Is The Impact On My Degree Of Work I Have Already Completed?

Associate Transfer Degree Completion: The completion of a transfer associate degree results in all lower-division general education requirements being met.

Dual Enrollment – Completion of Associate Degree in HS: The completion of an associate degree concurrent with high school results in 62 credits of coursework applied towards your degree. All general education coursework is satisfied.

Catalog Year: UVA Wise freshmen and transfers typically use the catalog year of entry to the college but may choose to use either of the previous two years when enrolled at the community college.

What Are My Chances For Getting Accepted?

If you have completed an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science with a 2.5 GPA or higher you are eligible for Guaranteed Admission to UVA Wise.

If you are working toward your degree but want to get started at Wise your chances of admission are very good if you have maintained good academic standing at your community college.

Other Than Classes, Are There Other Program Requirements?

All students must complete an admission process to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) that will require additional criteria such as a background check, fingerprinting, additional testing, online training, TB skin test and emergency training.
