What Should I Consider When Selecting Courses?

Which Majors Will Be Available to Me Through This GPAA?

The BIS degree does not have majors, only concentrations.

What Is the Impact on My Degree of Work I Have Already Completed?

  • Associate Transfer Degree Completion: consult with UVA SCPS pre-admission advising staff.

  • Credit for Prior Learning: UVA SCPS does not award portfolio credit for prior learning. Consult the Undergraduate Record for test scores (i.e. AP, IB) needed to earn course credit.

  • Catalog Year: UVA will honor the general education requirements of the UVA Catalog in effect at the time of the student’s first post-high school enrollment into an appropriate associate degree at the two-year institution. Students who maintain continuous enrollment at the two-year institution have a maximum of four years from their first enrollment at the institution for this catalog designation.

  • Students earning an associate degree prior to or concurrent with completion of a high school (or high school equivalency) curriculum are not eligible for admission under this Agreement but may apply through the regular admission process and will be considered on an equal basis with other applicants.

Is This College Right For Me?

  • BIS is ideal for adults who need the flexibility of part-time enrollment and online courses.

  • Part-time program (students typically take 2 classes a semester fall, spring, and summer).

  • Online program, with synchronous and asynchronous course formats.

  • Outside the GPAA, requires a minimum of 36 transfer credits, including satisfaction of English composition requirement, at least 12 credits toward general education requirements, and at least a 2.0 GPA from the last school attended to be considered for admission.

  • Learn more about our college at www.TransferVirginia.org

What Resources Are Available to Help Me Select a Major?

Did You Know That…

  • Completing your Associate transfer degree post-high school satisfies all lower division general education requirements and increases the chance of completing your bachelor’s degree?

  • Exceeding 3 years or 90 credits at your community college means you may have exhausted your financial aid at that college and have limited your future financial aid at UVA SCPS?

What Are My Chances for Getting Accepted?

  • We welcome & encourage applicants applying outside of the GPAA, and the majority of our applicants apply without using the GPAA.

  • The majority of candidates who have gone through BIS Pre-Admission Advising are admitted.
